Stylish........, but Lacking
|
I recently purchased this item for my custom 60 gal tank that houses 2 large red-eared sliders. This particular reptile is known for its love of basking. Therefore, having a heat lamp is an absolute MUST for my situation.
Pro's: Very stylish, much nicer looking than your typical metal domes. The Flexible neck allows for good light/heat placement. Convenient ON/OFF click switch.
Cons: The lamp emits a horrid odor of burning rubber when it gets hot. The bulb cover/cage is VERY hard to remove/replace. This cover is FRAGILE and breaks easily. The tank clamp is small, made of cheap plastic, and easily shifts when attempting to position the neck. The ray/diameter of light-heat emitted is rather limited.
Call me superficial, but I am sticking w/this ESU product because of its style. It looks better than any of the competitors I've seen and still does a decent job. However, if function is your major concern......., keep looking.
