I have used it while away for 10 days at a time. But the trick is not to use flake food. I use the small cichlid pellets. I can see how flake food could get damp or a large flake getting in the way of it reloading. With the small ROUND cichlid pellets they just roll right into the tube when reloading. It will feed twice a day as it just turns like the hour hand of a clock giving you a feed every 12 hours.
