On more than one occasion, when some of my ferrets became ill with severe stomach flues, stopped eating and were quite literally in danger of dying, this Duk Soup saved their lives. I fed it to them by a syringe until they were able to eat on their own.
At first, I also fed them Milk Thistle (homeopathic remedy for liver damage) and liquified gelatin (like a bandaid for the stomach), along with Pedialyte (for dehydration). I began mixing the Duk Soup with the Pedialyte and it turned out to be a very powerful boost for the ferret's depleted immune system and also remedied dehydration quickly.
Now I have a senior ferret who is terminally ill. He has pancreatic cancer and just about all he can tolerate is Duk Soup. I mix about a half a teaspoon at a time with Pedialyte or water and either feed it to him in a syringe, or let him lap it up himself from a (cleaned) mayonnaise jar lid.
Not only does Duk Soup have high protein and taste good, it also has lactobacillus and acidophilus (good to help replenish healthy intestinal bacteria that are killed when on antibiotics) and other good stuff that helps their immune systems. |
