I read the reviews on this 40# storage container before puchasing and was concerned that it would not hold a full bag of kibble. But, it does hold a full bag of the small flat kibbles (40#)that our dogs eat. Oh, I have not had any trouble opening or closing with one hand - just need to get the lid at the right angle to close.
