THIS is the ball that I had been searching for. It runs on an internal AA battery that makes it zig-zag and bounce away from walls, items, etc. It is hard plastic. The tail is a nifty item, but not necessary, even though my cat likes furry stuff. The batteries will die down after a while and you do have to manually replace them, but is that such a big deal?
